Enjoy an invigorating 6-mile hike from Bloomfield to Simsbury co-sponsored by Wintonbury Land Trust, Simsbury Land Trust, and Bloomfield Leisure Services. With glorious fall scenery, the free hike showcases land trust properties and trail connections that link the towns through Penwood State Park.
Meet at the end point, the historic Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge in Simsbury. A bus will shuttle hikers to the starting point, the recently renovated Filley Park in Bloomfield. (Or car pool with friends.) Be prepared to take Covid-19 safety precautions as required such as wearing a mask on the bus. Please register to help us monitor the group size and to contact you if it becomes necessary to change our plans.
From Filley Park we’ll hike Bloomfield’s LaSalette Trail to the 1834 Oliver Filley House in LaSalette Open Space. Ascending to WLT’s adjoining Hawk Hill Farm, we should get stunning views of Hartford. We’ll proceed to WLT’s Stout Family Fields, a gateway into Penwood State Park. After visiting Lake Louise and resting at The Pinnacle, we’ll descend through SLT’s gorgeous Tanager Hill and Owen Mortimer properties to return to the Flower Bridge!
